I wanted to make an ICPC project that complemented both my research and my narrative film. My research focuses on The Motion Picture Production Code of 1934 and how it affected gender and sexuality, implementing rigid guidelines that shaped American culture. I discuss cinema before the Code, known as “Pre-Code Cinema '', a time when cinema storytelling had fewer boundaries to illustrate attitudes and characteristics that were acceptable to premiere on the silver screen. This moment in time goes by unnoticed, which is what the code intended, and what I plan to do with this project is to bring more awareness to what cinema could have been.

The film centers around a film censor in the 1930s who learns more about herself than she bargained for when she reviews an art film based on a forbidden novel.
