Speaking from the Heart: A Senior Lecture Recital is an extension of the Bachelor of Music’s Senior Recital requirement. Through music composed by Handel, Mozart, Schumann, Fauré, and Bernstein, the many faces and attitudes of love are explored. Whether it is love etched in betrayal, early love, late love, sensual love, or self-accepting love, composers over the centuries have dedicated some portion of their compositional careers to writing about this phenomenon that affects the human spirit. This lecture recital was created to give audiences a taste of the histories, emotions, and stories surrounding these composers whilst simultaneously giving live performances of each of these gems found in the treasury of classical song.
