Leslie Marion Silko’s Ceremony (1977) follows Native American U.S military veteran Tayo, as he struggles to navigate his war-trauma within a white-dominant, war-centric, settler-colonial society. Tayo’s body serves as a force of resistance and guidance throughout his transformative healing journey. By the end of this journey, Tayo fosters his own sense of belonging, agency, and harmony within a world that he always felt exploited and excluded from.
