Based primarily on my 6-month field study working with the Homeless Person's Health Project and the Santa Cruz County Syringe Services Program, this project analyzes harm reduction programs for people who are unsheltered/unhoused and/or use drugs in Santa Cruz County and the community context they are situated in using a lens of necropolitics. Specifically, the project focuses on the state and its programs' role in the deaths of people who are unsheltered/unhoused and/or use drugs that often occur in public spaces.
