There are little written records or personal writings from Ancient Egypt. However, historians can still understand what life was like by examining art and artifacts left behind. In this video, we examine the Stela of Maya in order to paint a picture of Ancient Egyptian family and marriage structure. We outline the basic strucutre of Ancient Egyptian art, use those rules to look at the art depicted in the stela, and interpret how the rules and the images work together to create a understanding in what life was like in Ancient Egypt.
