Thinning Veil

A contemporary rewriting of the Greek dramas "Electra" by Euripides, "Electra" by Sophocles, "Iphigenia in Aulis" by Euripides, "The Oresteia" by Aeschylus, and "The Iliad" by Homer, "Thinning Veil" is a multimedia experimental piece that delves into the lives and relationships of its characters as they try to communicate with each other through the veil. Taking place within two separate buildings, the characters and audiences are connected by projections streaming live over the internet as the actors talk straight to the cameras into the other world, or watch the looming screens to see the lives of each world unfold, realizing the power and influence each character holds despite the physical distance between them.

Through the use of costuming, we see the Greek characters translated into contemporary fashion, becoming more accessible to modern day audience members, allowing them to see the relevance these stories still hold. Just as the actors communicate through the veil of projections and internet connections, we also communicate with Greek culture through a veil of time, seeing the similarities and miscommunications through time and space, and further understanding their stories within the total human experience.
